It's all about movement

How can we help?

It's all about
movement.

Why DFX Pilates for addressing an injury?

It's all about movement.

At DFX Pilates it's about movement and developing new, efficient movement patterns. We start with the simplest movements and build awareness. We then build deep strength, free up restricted areas and add in more complex movements. The result is strengthening the body and retraining movement patterns so you carry the new habits with you outside of the studio and into your life.

We're with you every step of the way

When you do sessions with us, you'll be with an instructor for the entire 55-minutes. At DFX Pilates we believe that attention to detail and proper form are where it's at. We'll be right there with you every step of the way. Together we'll correct faulty movement patterns and re-educate your body to move with ease.

Focus on deep strength

We teach the STOTT PILATES® method, a modern style of Pilates supercharged with science. We break the exercises into logical layers, rebuilding movement from the ground up. Often times problems occur because deep musles aren't properly coordinated with the larger muscle groups. We'll access those deep muscles and grow movement from there.

Address the whole body

As we move through your program, we'll expand beyond just the injured area. This is an important step since restrictions in movement in one area of the body might be a contributing factor to your injury. You might have come to us to address low back pain. But, ensuring mobility of the hips, upper back and shoulders is important for making lasting changes.

Improve Posture

Central to the Pilates method is posture and alignment. We'll identify postural issues and design your program to correct posture. The STOTT PILATES method gives us a vast repertoire from which to choose. With that, we'll be able to fine tune exercise selection to optimize your posture. Restoring alignment to the body has a powerful effect. It's a big part of re-educating your body to move with ease.

Our method's been researched

Our method has been
researched

In 2015 DFX Pilates Instructor Trainer Dana Stieglitz put STOTT PILATES exercises to the test as part of her doctoral dissertation. STOTT PILATES equipment-based exercises were carefully selected to address Chronic Low Back Pain (CLBP). The pilot study aimed to see the effect of practicing the exercises twice a week for 6 weeks. The group of patients even included firefighters and healthcare workers, professionals with a high incidence of low back pain. Many of the selected patients also saw little to no benefit from other therapies.

The result:

A significant reduction in low back pain.

Ready to add Pilates to your injury treatment?

Here's how it works.

Step 1

3-private sessions intro package

Start with our three 55-min sessions intro pack for $99. We'll get to know you and your body and we'll begin with the fundamentals of Pilates. If you are under the care of a Physical Therapist, Doctor, Chiropractor, etc. be sure you've got permission from them to begin a Pilates practice. We don't diagnose injuries. Let us know any points they make about movements you should avoid. We'll design the sessions to include their recommendations.

Step 2

Focus on your unique needs

Continue with private sessions as long as it's appropriate. Single sessions are $75 or packages of 10 are $650. We'll continue to advance you addressing posture, strength, mobility and efficient movement. The goal is movement with ease, the way the body is designed. The sessions will progress to functional, every day skills and if you want, any sport-specific movements. In some more complex cases we may request that you work with a senior instructor. In this case private sessions are $85 or packages of 10 are $800.

Step 3

Broaden your practice

Continue your Pilates practice. The sessions expand from addressing your injury specifically to addressing whole body health and fitness. Have a conversation with your instructor about your path. You might choose to continue with private sessions or you might enjoy the energy and group feel of our classes or maybe both.  If classes are calling your name, we'll want to be sure that we transition at the right time to keep the safety and effectiveness of the work.
